Cabo Recommendations
Cabo San Lucas holds a very special place in my heart. Here are my personal recommendations for making the most of your time in this magical corner of Baja California.
Restaurants
El Farallon
Perched on the cliffs at the Waldorf Astoria, this seafood restaurant is one of the most dramatic dining experiences in all of Baja. The fish is caught fresh daily and the setting is absolutely breathtaking.
Edith's Restaurant
A Cabo institution. The flambéed crepes are legendary and the atmosphere is warm and festive. Go for the Caesar salad prepared tableside — it's a show in itself.
Manta at The Cape
Chef Diego Hernandez brings Baja Med cuisine to life here. Creative, fresh, and beautifully presented. The ceviche and tostadas are not to be missed.
Sunset Monalisa
The name says it all — come for the sunset, stay for the Italian-inspired seafood. Reserve a table on the terrace for the full experience.
Beaches
Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach)
Accessible only by water taxi, this secluded beach at the tip of the Baja Peninsula is one of the most beautiful spots in Cabo. Bring snorkeling gear — the sea life is incredible.
Playa Palmilla
One of the few swimmable beaches near Cabo San Lucas, calm waters and beautiful surroundings make this a perfect day trip.
Playa Santa Maria
A protected cove with crystal-clear water, perfect for snorkeling. The coral reef here is stunning and the beach is rarely crowded.
Activities
Whale Watching (December–April)
The waters around Cabo are one of the best places in the world to see gray whales and humpbacks. Book a tour early in the season for the best sightings.
Baby Turtle Release
One of the most moving experiences I've ever had. Contact local conservation groups to find out when and where releases are happening during your visit.
Sport Fishing
Cabo is the "Marlin Capital of the World" for good reason. Whether you're an experienced angler or a first-timer, a day on the water is unforgettable.
Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco)
No trip to Cabo is complete without seeing El Arco. Take a glass-bottom boat tour for the best views and a peek at the sea lions lounging on the rocks.
Where to Stay
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal
Accessible only through a private tunnel carved into the mountain, this resort is in a class of its own. Stunning cliffside location, impeccable service, and the best pool in Cabo.
The Cape, a Thompson Hotel
Sleek, modern, and perfectly positioned at Land's End. The rooftop bar has the best views in town and the rooms are beautifully designed.
One&Only Palmilla
A legendary resort with old-world charm and world-class amenities. The beach here is one of the safest for swimming and the spa is extraordinary.
